Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Poor Penis And The Pooh Present

What's the worst thing that can happen to a man? Going blind? Needing dialysis three times a week? How about developing gangrene of the penis and having it amputated? My patient tonight had all three things happen to him.

Diabetes is an awful disease. How tragic that despite the consequences of poorly controlled blood sugar levels, so few of our patients are compliant with their diabetes treatment regimen. I have no doubt that it's difficult, but so is being blind, in renal failure and penis free.

We have another patient who recently had a leg hacked off due to diabetes. We're not exactly sure if he's confused or just has behavior issues, but he handed his nurse a handful of pooh. He knew that we needed a spool specimen, so he pooped in his hand and handed it to his nurse. How thoughtful.

The patient without the penis was in his early fifties and married. I've known some married women who would have thought it was fine if that happened to their husband.

My only hope is, he was a pedophile.

Michelle, it would be nice if we could give penis gangrene to pedophiles.

Karen, it is awful. I wish that newly diagnosed diabetic patients could be given a photo of his private parts as an incentive to take good care of themselves.
