Dry Humping The Boss
Is it ever okay to give your boss a lap dance? The reason I'm asking is because there was a party to celebrate the retirement of a female executive. The D.J., who was leading party games, asked the executive to pick a man from each table. The executive then sat on a chair in the middle of the dance floor, while each man had to take turns giving her a lap dance. Everyone kept their clothes on and there wasn't any serious touching, but there were erotic moves with various private areas shaken in her face.
As far as I know, everyone had a good time and thought it was funny, but it bothers me. I don't want to sound like an old fuddy-duddy, but isn't this a little inappropriate for a work party? This is the second work party in the last two weeks that involved the men being asked to perform like strippers.
If the women were coerced into giving the men lap dances, I'm fairly certain that there would be outrage. Or, at least I would be outraged, instead of just feeling squeamish with the male performers.
Is this some new trend for work parties or are the people I work with just weird and perhaps in need of a class on sexual harassment in the work place?

Short answer . . .no, this is very weird, and not at all the norm.
Sounds way too risque for an office party. This behavior would be more appripriate to a bachelor party.
Looks like your blog is becoming a Japanese porn site. Might want to increase the comment box security a bit.
Bulldog, I'm glad I'm not the abnormal one.
Connie, I was thinking that it did seem like a bachelorette party, but still weird to do with coworkers.
Alan, I fixed it, but I really don't understand what those symbols mean. How did you know? :)
you sound fuddy-duddy to me, and I should know. I wrote the book on fuddy-duddy: "The Idiot's Guide to Fuddy-Duddy" (Derwood Press, 2007)
Totally inappropriate, if you ask me. While I enjoy the occasional comment or joke that rides that "fine line" I think that this party you described was too much. If this was a party organized by a friend and enjoyed by her friends and one or two co-workers were there because they are friends outside of work, then I'd say, ok... but as an office party? I think it's a little too risky. But that's just me... a fellow fuddy-duddy. ~~KH
I'm late to comment but I agree, inappropriate. I was at a mandatory documentation class today and there where 26 nurses one of which was male and the facilitator of the course kept making inappropriate comments to the male nurse...it bothered me, hopefully it didn't bother him...
