Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.
My left middle finger has been misbehaving. When I press on it, pus oozes out around the nail bed. I have no idea what happened to it. I recall no injuries. Perhaps there was a tiny scratch and icky patient germs got inside.
I suppose that I could see a doctor, but it should heal on its own. My immune system is good.In the meantime, my finger reminds me of a glue stick that oozes glue when pressure is applied. Only in my case, it's pus.

Yuck, you need antibiotics for that one. I would like to see a picture, and can I drain it for you? Don't worry , it won't hurt me a bit.
It doesn't really look that bad, but instead of oozing pus, it's now starting to swell a tiny bit. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. At least it's stopped throbbing.
I appreciate the offer and I know that you know how, but I prefer to do my own surgery.
You still need antibiotics, maybe I could assist you with the surgery...I think you are going to have to call in sick tomorrow, wouldn't want to spread any of those nasty germs around. Come to think of it I think I am coming down with something...I may have to call off tomorrow too!
Oh, don't tempt me. Although, I just did a litttle surgery and pus is running freely again. If it's not better tomorrow, maybe I shouldn't work. Are there any good sales someplace?
