Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Don't Waste Good Wine On Me

This is what I drink when I say that I'm having a glass of wine. It's diet 7-up, ice and cabernet from Trader Joe's. The wine is, I think, less than two bucks a bottle.

The proportions depend upon the kind of day that I've had. For a bad day when higher analgesic qualities are desired, it will be a fifty-fifty mix. On good days, there may be just an inch of wine with the rest of the glass filled with ice and soda.

Judging from the color of the drink pictured, it appears that this was made on a bad day. I find it difficult to drink wine straight. It makes me gag.

MELISSA! That is disgusting! I can't believe you would drink that by choice. I hope you don't think the good port and sherry are going to continue to flow when you come over if this is what you really like. Might I recommend Boone's Farm...it comes in many sickeningly sweet fruit flavors and you won't have to bother mixing it, just pour it over ice. (I am now cringing and making a disgusted face!)
FYI, alchohol has no analgesic properties, it is classified as a sedative. I would recommend an opiate derivative should you feel the need. Maybe we should be planning our next vacation to Amsterdam instead of Australia!(Sorry Michelle).

Boone's Farm triggers my gag reflex. I actually like my cabernet-diet 7-up drink.

By the way, I do know and appreciate good port. It's sweet enough to not trigger my gag reflex. (Why would I need to visit Amsterdam with my access to narcs? Just joking.)

Margaritas work. Anything that's sweet and preferably watered down I like.

"...sweet and preferably watered down..."

Sounds like a fun date. ;)

Dave,I've been told that I'm a cheap date by more than one person. I was told it was meant as a complement, but I'm not so sure. Is that the same thing as a fun date? ;)

Brandy, 2 buck chuck is a good name for it. With what I do to wine, there's no point in spending more.

Not that we ever discussed it anyway. :)

Heeyyy, I posted a long comment here yesterday. I said '2-buck-Chuck' in the comment. What happened to it, darnit?
Hmmm. Anyway, I only like the Cabernet and I think it makes a decent cheap table wine. We buy it by the case. :)
I can't stand anything sweet or watered down, though.

Sorry you lost your comment, Mary. I hate it when that happens.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who drinks 2-buck-chuck. My body thinks alcohol is poison, so unless I hide the taste well, it won't go past my throat. Hence, it must be sweet and watered down.
