Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Besides being a pretty obvious scam come-on (there are scads of variations of this floating around on the internet; none of the purported sponsors exists) I have read that it is illegal in the US to participate in an international lottery. Neat catch - one takes the bait and replies, and is on the hook to pay hush money so the government doesn't find out. Plus whatever else they can take one for. A TV investigative program last year followed up on one of the Nigerian scams and the people ended up encountering dangerous criminal elements.

I would have liked to see the program Paul was talking about.

Have you ever seen this?

I think in Dutch Heypotheekofferte must mean Hey Sucker.

Paul, that is worse than I imagined. I expected that it would just involve asking for money, not extortion.

Madwag, me too. It amazes me that people fall for them.

Lisa, that was funny.

Gary, I bet that you're right.

Dave, ditto.
