Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Was This A Misprint?

I bought a new blender that came with a recipe booklet. This abomination that they called guacamole was included. Whoever heard of putting potatoes in guacamole? And it doesn't even say to use a cooked potato. Pureed raw potatoes in guacamole? Have you ever heard of a travesty like this?

I don't like guacamole. I don't think I'd dislike it any more with potatoes. :)

Was it an Irish blender?

Dave, no wonder you moved away from Southern California. You can't live here and not like guacamole.

Sarah, lol, it was a Miami blender. You would think Floridians would know what goes in guacamole.

I love guacamole, but potatoes are a new twist. Doesn't sound very good. Did you try it?

I have seen some godawful guacamole recipes. I only use five ingredients: Salt, juice from a Mexican lime, perfectly ripe avocados, finely chopped serrano peppers, and finely chopped onion.
Mash together with a fork, leaving it a bit lumpy. Yum.

I do like salsa. Tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, salt, vinegar and a little liquid smoke.

Alan, I'm not blonde enough to try something like that.

Gary, that works for me.

Madwag, so, not even the English would put potatoes in guacamole? :)

Dave, liquid smoke? Are you out of your mind?

Me thinks they meant t-o-m-a-t-o?? At least I hope so??

Yes, I am out of my mind. Be that as it may, I still like a wee bit o' liquid smoke in my salsa (about 1/8 tsp). Ever have the salsa at Chevy's? There's smoke in them thar salsa!

I'm ok with the liquid smoke, good call Dave, althought the taste of the actual roasted peppers is better. Gary, though I do applaud you on the serrano's as opposed to the sissy's that use jalapenos, what about cilantro?

Errn4u, I bet you're right. That hadn't occurred to me. I thought that the recipe was just weird.

Dave, Chevy's? I thought that was a type of car. Are you sure that it wasn't just car exhaust smoke in the salsa? :)

Sarah, I agree that salsa must have cilantro in it. Guacamole needs cilantro too.

ohmygod that sounds so disgusting. You almost feel tempted to make it just to see how bad it is. Ick.

I think liquid smoke would be good in salsa. I love avacados.. guac or just straight up.

Trundling grunt, that thought has occurred to me too, but I don't want to waste an avocado and I certainly don't want to taste it myself.

Lisa, I have a thing about liquid smoke and don't even like it in barbeque. I agree with you regarding avocados. It's a dirty little secret that I like them mashed with mayonnaise and spread on whole wheat bread. The people at work think I'm sick.
