Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Just For Dave

Sarah dyed her hair red recently and Dave commented that he would like to see a picture. So, here are a couple of shots. I sure wish that I looked that good when puttering around the house . No wonder that every boyfriend Sarah has ever had hangs around her house.

And she's cooking a pie! In a red dress! What could be better than that? :)

Thanks!

Notice the 6 burner stove? Sarah can really cook. She sometimes uses all 6 burners at once.

We used to have a stove like that. In fact, our kitchen in Woodland Hills looked like that, with the pantry just left of the stove.

I dig the pearls, too. Sarah must have many suitors. :)

Sarah's doing much better than I am when it comes to suitors. Sometimes she'll throw a left-over my way. :)

I have lots of pearls too. Maybe they would attract more men if I actually wore them.

Sarah is rightfully proud of her kitchen and especially her heirloom stove. She worked hard to make it look like the 1950's.

I love my stove! This is the 3rd vintage stove I've had, but it's the best. Double ovens & broilers with six burners and you can really throw a food party! I've gained 10 lbs. since I bought that stove and it was all pie (boysenberry)!
The pearls are vintage from my friends Granny who worked at the first Bullocks downtown when there were mostly oil fields in L.A. I don't normally lounge around in a dress & makeup with a martini, try baggy sweats and a dark beer or port. I already told you the ex's hang around for the food, the widescreen TV and the garage workshop. When we go out all eyes are on Melissa, there is no competing with a beautiful tall blonde!

You'll have to wrestle it away from Sarah. She's stronger than she looks.

Funny, Michelle, when admiring these photos that's the last thing that occurs to me. ;)

These photos are wonderful! You could do a whole line of greeting cards with this "Donna Reed" retrosexual style. I was even toying with stories I could write with these as illustration.

The martini's a nice touch. But next time, turn off the datestamp. :)

Sarah sent me a whole collection of these kind of photos. Maybe if you're good, I'll post the picture of her sprawled on her bed. ;)

What do I get if I'm bad? ;)

Sarah, you're gorgeous!
So is that stoooooove! It looks like a Wedgewood? We had one like it for a while when we lived in an old 1949 ranch style house up in Antioch, CA. Mine only had 4 burners, but also had a griddle-in-the-middle. Ahhh, it was so cool. It came with the house and I loved it so much. The only thing was that my then-2 year old was fascinated with the little numbers and letters on the knob handles and I would worry about him keeping his paws off the Robert Shaws. Hehe.
Also, I have a red kitchen! Everything red and as 'retro' as possible, right down to my blender and toaster and mixing bowls and cooking utensils and... well, you get the idea.
I'm trying to peek behind you at that red stepstool chair thingy I see in the background... I want it! LOL
Such great photos. Thanks for posting them Melissa.

Thanks for your comments, Mary. It sounds like you and Sarah have identical kitchens, except for the stove. :)

So Dave, if you're bad, what would you like? ;)

Nice catch dk, like Melissa, I am electronically challenged so I can't work the camera. (but I will happily calculate your chemo dose, mix it and run it for you, pretty scary huh?)
Melissa, I was not "sprawled" I was lounging with my dogs!
Mary, you're correct, it's a Wedgewood, late 40's. I love it, but not the 10 lbs of pie to the thigh that came with it! There is just a little too much of me to love right now! But thank you, you also have a lovely eye! Before this I had an O'Keefe & Merritt 50's DeVille model with the glass shelf, glass front doors, griddle, 4 burner, single oven, it had lots of chrome and came with the cadillac emblem on the front (sweet!). Alas I needed more burners, another oven & broiler & more BTU's! I would love to see pics of your red kitchen! (the stool is reproduction from target).
So come on over, I would be happy to cook something without any bug parts for all of you!
