Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Goth Girl

A new secretary was hired recently. She had a conventional appearance, but that has suddenly all changed. A couple of days ago she showed up in black scrubs, black lipstick, black nail polish and a newly pierced nose and lip. She doesn't have any direct patient contact, but she sits at the front desk and she is the first thing that patients and visitors see. People are leery enough of us, without her totally freaking them out with her Goth appearance.

Management spoke to her, so she has stopped the black scrubs and make up, but the face studs remain. She can't remove them until the holes heal or else the holes will close. That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me, but who am I to judge. Apparently she enjoys looking like there is a booger (sp?) on her nose and a chunk of food on her lip. I'm wondering if she thinks that she looks pretty like that or is she just trying to gross us out? Who knew that it's even possible to gross out nurses?

I guess she hasn't read the studies showing how lip and tounge piercings greatly accelerate receeding gums. She's going to look really cool when she's in her mid 40's and her teeth look about an inch long.

If what they are trying to do is gross people out, then having horse teeth later in life would just add to the desired effect.
