Small Red Things In My Yard
This is a rose hip. There is no excuse for this. I should have been more meticulous with my dead-heading.
These are minature roses. They bloom year round, but then, this is Southern California.
This is pyracantha. I hope that the berries last until Christmas, so I can decorate with it.
My toyon berries are pathetic looking. The neglected toyon growing along the freeways are dripping with sprays of beautiful berries right now and this is what my nurtured toyon is doing.
This apple is about one and a half inches across. It's much smaller than the apples that the tree produced earlier. They were about two and a half inches across. The taste of these tiny apples is tiny also.

How are you supposed to keep up your yardwork when you have important blogging to do?
It does create quite a conflict. While I'm glued to the computer, I keep telling myself to go outside and play. :)
Those pyracantha berries look a lot like the firethorn berries in our front yard. ;)
Very pretty colors! They would be great for xmas decorations :)
Dave, I had never heard of the term firethorn before, so I looked it up. Who knew? We have the same shrub planted in our yards. Did you know that the berries are edible if cooked? You could make firethorn jam.
Lisa, okay, you caught me. I'll stop it (for now). Those plane tickets to Omaha and San Francisco were getting to be a bit too expensive anyway. :)
Michelle, I just hope that they last that long. What do you use to decorate your house at Christmas, orchids? :)
