Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Subtle Fall

If you look really hard, you can see subtle changes that Fall is coming to LA. Most trees are evergreen here, but there is an occasional tree that is sort of changing color, like this tree that I can see from one of my bedroom windows.

Those are the San Gabriel mountains in the background, to the South. They help protect me from the San Fernando Valley on the other side.
This is the San Fernando Valley taken from a window at work, facing North. Some of the trees are starting to turn reddish. It's not much of a show, but that is the price we pay for living in a warm place with no real seasons. That annoying netting is supposed to keep pigeons away. Instead, I think that it attracts them. The balconies are covered with pigeon nests.

My house is directly on the other side of those mountains. It's not very far, but it's an entirely different world there.

What do you mean the mountains "protect" you from the valley? It's not like you live in Mayberry! I am the most boring person I know and even I would die of boredom living there!
I may remind you that we have better restaurants, more variety and MUCH better shopping (except you do have the Bombay Kids). Additionally, should you be so inclined, the night life is...well, let's just say we actually HAVE a night life (as opposed to all sitting around worshipping the media temple with our 2.5 white protestant children).
Yes, land is cheaper there, and there is a reason for that! We don't have to plan our every outing around the terrible congestion on the one main road thru town, or worse yet...Gasp...the FREEWAY:O
Wake up and smell the double shot half decaf soy peppermint mocha frappucino! Come and live with us, where you can come over and play every weekend, and we can eat and shop and be happy like those people on TV running on the beach and smiling who take that magic little pill (I want that damn pill!). I know a good realtor and there are a couple of houses for sale near my house:)
OK, you're right maybe I should have my own blog. I talk too much. OK, bye.
p.s. Should I get the listings in my nieghborhood for you? Just think, without that big yard to take care of you would have more time to blog;)

Brandy, it was in the 80's today and as usual I ate my breakfast outside on the patio. It's nice, but still, I think that it would be fun to have some real weather. I love snow.

Sarah, the Valley sucks and you know it. When you come to your senses, I'll help you find a house here in God's country. There are some listings on my street right now.

God's country? Wow I guess they did plant one of their probes in your brain. I'm sorry I was wrong, it's not like Mayberry, it's more like Stepford!
