Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Illegal Drugs and a Married Man

None of my patients tonight were especially confused, yet I still had some strange encounters. I was giving one patient morphine in her IV line, when she looked at me with big eyes and whispered, "Is this legal?" I assured that it was and she replied, "Are you sure?" While I was explaining why it's legal to take morphine, I was wondering, does she actually think that in a hospital we would be giving our patients illegal drugs?

Another patient was so sweet and complementary. She began telling me about her son and how she would like to fix us up. I was looking forward to meeting him until she mentioned that he was married. I'm so astonished, I don't know what to say, except that I won't be going out with him. What was she thinking?

Lisa, the thought did cross my mind. Oh well, I guess we'll never know. I'm just glad that she's not my mother-in-law. :)
