Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Tae Kook Dang

There was a surprise when I opened my lunch box at work. It was empty. I forgot to pack it, but at least I remembered to bring the empty container. Menopause is a bitch. I am losing my mind.

At least I didn't go entirely hungry. My student gave me tae kook dang for dinner. It was some kind of cookie/cake thing. I normally read ingredients labels anyway, but when it comes to food with names like that, I read the label very carefully. I would not be happy if I accidentally ate something like monkey spleen.

The ingredients were perfectly ordinary, so I ate it and it was okay. There is just one thing that bothered me. The tae kook dang had peanuts in it. I have nothing against peanuts. The problem is that they weren't listed in the ingredients. It makes me wonder what other mystery ingredients may have been included. Dang the tae kook dang. Sorry.

I can't remember anything now. If it's going to get worse, I'm going to have to wear my keys on a chain around my neck and pin my address to my shirt in case I get lost.

Ahnyong haseyo, Melissa.

I think Tae Kook Dang is the name of the bakery - not the baked goods.

A cookie is gwaja.

Chon maneyo.

Mahala, I feel your pain.

Bulldog, what language is that anyway? And how is it that you speak it?

Anon, thanks. I hope that you're enjoying a nice Fall down under.

Melissa,

It's Korean, and I don't speak it. I know quite a few phrases from years in Korean martial arts - Taekwondo and Hapkido.

It said "Good evening" and "you're welcome" :0}

Peanuts not listed? Gah! Oh well, things like that happen everyday I bet. Glad that it didn't make you ill or anything.

Forgetting. It's getting bad around here. Really bad. I'm getting afraid for us. We are just old, and I am well past Menopause, which you will get your memory back from when it's all over. Take care and don't eat anymore mystery foods. heehee

Zippiknits, I like peanuts, so I didn't mind them. It could dangerous, though, for people with peanut allergies to get surprises like that.

Lisa, I miss my Korean student. He's gone now.
