Misadventurous Melissa

Everyday is an adventure, or misadventure as the case may be. It is the latter that makes for the best stories, inspiring the name of my blog. I'm a nurse and an attorney (and way too silly sometimes). I am retired now. WELCOME to my blog! This is a work of fiction inspired by true events. The patients I refer to are a patchwork quilt of various patient's problems mixed together. If you think you recognize someone, you are wrong. These people do not really exist.

Impressive Entrance

Leaving work tonight, I walked past some blood at the top of the stairs. On the stairs, a big shiny, black cockroach ran by my feet. At the bottom of the stairs was a pile of vomit with a shoe print in the middle of it. Once outside the door, there was pigeon poop and feathers on the walkway, plus a cotton ball with a tiny drop of blood on it. The walkway was also polka dotted from all of the gum stuck to it.

One of the top complaints we get is that the hospital is dirty. I can't imagine why people would say that. Aren't the entrances to most hospitals like this?

My mother-in-law was in the hospital this weekend. The place and it's entrance actually seemed quite clean.

Excellent. Sounds like we're making progress.

Alan, I guess it's just us then. :)

May, we need to get your people to work here. There is no excuse for this place.

Anon, that's true. At least I didn't have to step over any dead or writhing bodies. :)

Well, yes. Absolutely. Progress does not come without a cost. Especially when one is dealing with sick and wounded patients.

However, of course, it would certainly be nice if people could find the trashcan, huh?

...and! For the sake of the terminally not-so-bright, the ashtray for the smokers. Wouldn't want anyone to get confused.

Thats where those trashcans with the ashtrays on top really come in handy.

It's possible that by adding a third story and including a bright flashing neon sign, that it may just even attract more trash.

Which is, of course, not to be confused with the nearest hotel!

Which....once again, does not necessarily imply that I would know anything whatsoever about such things.

Well, those are good points, anon. However, it's also possible that if they weren't smokers, they might not have to spend so much time at the hospital to begin with. That, however, is another discussion entirely. Tied in only by the fact that ashtrays were included with certain trashcans.

So, once again....it would not only be nice if people would use those trash cans, but be a little kinder to their bodies as well.

As we have all noticed, hospital staff are always very busy. There's a reason for that!

The hospital staff work very hard to help people stay healthy. A little respect for the hospital grounds seems as if it wouldn't need to be mentioned. But obviously it does.

Speaking of respect....it's very generous of blogger to allow all these people {monetarily} free hosting, isn't it?

Thank you for all your hard work Melissa.

Please, evacuate the area. There could be a hidden charge in here someplace. This is your last warning.

Very interesting. I think we've located the main (problem). Please disregard the previous warning and return to work as usual.

Thank you for your patience.

Wow, this comment section is getting a little too weird for me. I always post Anon, but I put "IL Nurse" at the bottom. I don't know if anyone notices. So....wow this is getting odd, and even though I am an Anon, I am not the one above!

At my facility I can never seem to find housekeeping when I need someone. Hopefully it is because they are busy working elsewhere.

Anon #1, it would also be nice if when people bleed or puke or pigeons poop, our staff would clean it up.

Anon #2, cig butts is one problem that we don't have. The no smoking rule on our property is strictly enforced.

Dr psy, it is nice of Blogger. I wonder how they make money doing this?

Bomb_squad, what a relief.

Anon #4, I hope that they are working elsewhere. You never know.
